Overlooking the scenic Missouri River Valley, the city of Hermann and its wineries reflect Missouri's past and present winemaking traditions. Before Prohibition, Missouri was the 2nd-largest wine producing state. Today, with more than 40 wineries operating throughout the state, Missouri is home to the first two controlled appelation wine districts in the U.S. and several international wine competition winners.
